Mark Mayerson
Mark Mayerson is a native Bostonian, having grown up in Arlington, Massachusetts, where he began his violin studies at age nine. He studied there with the former first violinist of the Stradivarius Quartet. He performed several recitals and was concertmaster of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, with whom he also performed as soloist.
He attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he studied with the famous violin pedagogue Josef Gingold for six years. Mark graduated from Indiana with both a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Music degree with Highest Distinction. He also attended Ivan Galamian’s Meadowmount School of Music in New York, and he played in the Colorado Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, where he was co-concertmaster.
In 1984, Mark was offered the post of first soloist with the Opera Orchestra in Antwerp. In 1988, he started free-lancing with the various orchestras in Belgium and Holland, including the Royal Flanders Philharmonic, the Belgian Radio Orchestra, and the Flanders Chamber Orchestra.
Mark has been teaching violin for more than 50 years to students of all ages and levels. He has taught privately at home as well as in schools in the USA, The Antwerp International School, and the evening music school in Duffel.
He also worked for a number of years in the IT sector and helped to write and publish the piano and violin method books.
Ann DiTondo Mayerson
Ann has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth University, and a Master of Music degree (with a major in piano performance) from The New England Conservatory of Music. She has taught private piano lessons at The Brussels English Primary School, The International School of Brussels, The Antwerp International School, and the after-school programs of the Stoneham and Milton Public Schools in Massachusetts (USA). Her teaching studio includes students of all levels of playing and ages (5 to adult).
Ann regularly accompanies instrumental, vocal and choral recitals; directs the music for theatrical productions; and leads the music for church services with organ or piano.
She has written a series of piano method books, piano duet and trio arrangements, and music theory books, based on her broad experience from over 40 years of teaching both here and in the States.
